Almost all the Indians would like to drive cars on the German highway (Autobahn) due to the no speed limit. However, most Indians don’t do it because thed don|t have a German driving license or an International driving license. Here are some of the important information that could achieve your dream of driving on the German highway (Autobahn).
Driving without a German driving license
It’s generally possible for Indians to drive in Germany for the initial 6 months without a German driving license. All you need is just your original Indian driving license. It’s not possible for you to drive if you don’t have an Indian license with you.
Is an international driving license necessary?
It’s not mandatory to have an international driving license for the initial 6 months to drive in Germany. Even if you have an international driving license, you can’t drive for more than 6 months with it.
It’s mandatory to have a German driving license if you would like to drive in Germany after 6 months. Violating the law could lead to heavy penalties. So do not risk it.
Renting a car
It’s also possible to rent a car with your Indian driving license. If you plan to book a car with an Indian driving license, it’s better to clarify it with the rental company before booking a car.
